The Praya

New to One-Eight-One Hotel in the west of Hong Kong Island, The Praya is all about championing fresh local ingredients, prepared with modest finesse. The new contemporary Chinese restaurant serves elevated iterations of multi-generational family recipes by Hong Kong-born, Australian-raised Head Chef Samuel Ng. Signature dishes include Master Stock Beef Quintet with Grandma’s Chilli Oil, Sourdough Spring Onion Pancakes, and Grilled Threefinger Threadfin made with salted lemon preserved by Chef Samuel’s grandfather some 30 years ago.

Niras

This hot new contemporary Thai fine-dining restaurant is the first overseas expansion of acclaimed Thai Chef Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn and business partner Rungroj “Tao” Ingudananda, the masterminds behind the award-winning restaurant Le Du in Bangkok (which earned the number one spot on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list). G’Day Cafe and Restaurant

If the name didn’t give it away, G’Day Cafe is a new Australian eatery in Sai Ying Pun, with a pet-friendly terrace and private room for intimate gatherings. Brekkie runs until 6pm daily, so you won’t have to rise too early to enjoy the G’sanga, an Aussie-inspired take on the classic bacon and egg sandwich, or the G’Day Yoghurt Bowl. If you’re in the mood for an all-you-can-eat feast, tuck into the limitless Aussie BBQ for $268 on Tuesdays or the unlimited Australian Mussels and Striploin Steak for $468 on Fridays.

Lantana Beach Club

Chill out at this laid-back seaside eatery set on Lantau’s Lower Cheung Sha Beach. This newest member of the Pastis Group is a great spot for some casual Mediterranean fare (think Greek Salad, Croque Monsieur, Linguine Agilo e Olio, Quattro Formagio Pizza) and an aperitivo or two. Eggslut

Who’s egg-cited? The famed LA sandwich chain Eggslut is set to hatch its seventh Asia outlet later this month at Fashion Walk, bringing its generously stacked breakfast sandwiches featuring cage-free eggs to Hong Kong. Check out our first look here.

Uncle Miguel

New to Peel Street, Uncle Miguel serves up classic taqueria fare with street-style flair. The menu covers Northern Mexican cuisine with offerings like Quesadillas and Fajitas, alongside popular dishes from the Central region such as Enchiladas Rojas and Ceviche. Sumac Restaurant & Lounge

After closing for renovation in October, Sumac has re-opened its doors with a refined menu and chic new interiors. You’ll find a range of cold and hot mezza, as well as signature dishes like Shrimp Fatteh, butterflied Charcoal Grilled Chicken and Sayadieh (roasted seabream on basmati rice). Be sure to also check out Sumac Lounge, the adjoining cocktail lounge and bar with its own large outdoor area – a great spot for pre-dinner cocktails.

FRANCIS west
